Looking to find your city on Twitter? Try Foursquare.

As a community manager, I’m always trying to find members of the communities I’m involved in as they come on to Twitter. Sometimes there are just those people who will never show up in a search. However, you can find more people than you might think by checking into locations on Foursquare.

When you check into a new place using your mobile phone’s Foursquare application you can see the mayor of that location and anyone else who recently checked in at the same time. Follow their account and you’ll see that many users have links on their Foursquare profiles to their Facebook and Twitter pages. You can click through and find new members of your community to follow.

I use this feature all the time and find it immensely useful. Are there any cool tricks you have to find your city on Twitter?
