According to Tolkien at SlashDot, the source code for Sim City is now freely available under the name Micropolis. The code has been ramped up a bit and is now open to anyone interested in playing around with it.
Interestingly “the plane crash disaster has been removed as a result of 9/11.” In my opinion that is just plain stupid, we are not going to go back to every movie with the Twin Towers in them and edit them out, nor are we going to stop selling books or movies that have plane crashes in them, why should the game industry censer itself on this matter?
